Burbank, January 31, 2007: Kappa Studios, Inc. has just completed voice recording and mixing for the new half hour animated comedy titled Eddie & The Squid starring the vocal talents of comedian George Lopez, star of ABC’s The George Lopez Show. Lopez will be executive producer on the show for Delfino Entertainment, a film and TV distribution company, which recently set up an animation division to produce the pilot episode.

Eddie & The Squid is a half-hour comedy chronicling the adventures of two young Latino brothers voiced by Efren Ramirez (Napoleon Dynamite) and veteran toon voicer Carlos Alazraqui (Camp Lazlo, The Life & Times of Juniper Lee), who also stars in Comedy Central’s Reno 911! The developers of “Squid” are Don Ashley, head of Delfino; Rick Nyholm, exec producer of ABC’s “The George Lopez Show”; and Brett Merhar, who created the characters.

Series creator Brett Merhar is developing the show with Delfino principal Don Ashley and The George Lopez Show exec producer Rick Nyholm. Delfino hopes Fox will add the series to its Sunday “Animation Domination” lineup, which currently includes The Simpsons, King of the Hill, American Dad and Family Guy. Ashley said Delfino has developed new technology in handdrawn animation that allows the animators to put together a half-hour episode in as little as eight weeks.
